  molecular biology.
• ? Project  Our group has recently demonstrated
  that transient DNA strand breaks are produced in
  the whole population of haploïd spermatids just
  before they become mature spermatozoa.These DNA
  strand breaks are likely created to allow for the
  change in DNA topology associated with the major
  chromatin remodeling occurring at these steps of
  the differentiating spermatids. This finding is
  considered important in the field of reproductive
  biology since these transient DNA strand breaks
  represent a potential source of genetic
  instability that may have been overlooked so far.
  It is therefore of prime importance to elucidate
  the molecular mechanism responsible for the
  strand breakage, the distribution of the strand
  breakage and what are the genetic consequences of
  any alteration in the process that may be caused
  by chemical toxicants. The candidate will be
  investigating the distribution of strand breakage
  and whether or not it can be found at coding
  sequences using the magnetic capture of break
  sites. This approach will also establish whether
  strand breakage occurs at random or within
  hotspots. The candidate will therefore have the
  possibility to make a significant contribution to
  the field of reproductive biology.
