  • Promote the development of Demand Response
    Resources (DRR) by providing a roadmap for
    integrating DRR into liberalized markets.

The Soft Side of Demand Response
  • Must develop methods, technology, and tools to
    connect customer to the market
  • Must set realistic goals for the amount and value
    of the capacity that can be utilized in a DR
    program
  • It is just as critical to properly communicate
    and sell DRs value to the major players and
    participants in the marketplace all the rules,
    systems, and technology will be worthless if
    nobody participates

Building the Business Case
  • Create an in-country stakeholder group
  • Assess the benefits and desires for demand
    response in your market
  • Assess the economic opportunity for demand
    response in your market (e.g. market potential,
    valuation, cost/benefits)
  • Assess the technology requirements to implement
    effective demand response
  • Assess the market challenges and develop
    strategies for overcoming them
  • Design DR structure and establish pilot project
    (hopefully)

    entire time you are building your business plan
