• Maintaining access
• Wiring is a small portion of the cost
• May not be enough computers to go around
• Some computers are too old
• Older computers are not satisfactory web browsers
• Computers need major upgrades or replacement
• New equipment becomes obsolete in a few years

Ineffective Internet Research

• Sites of questionable educational value
• Sites totally unrelated to topic
• Reliability of the information on the internet.
• Internet constantly changing
• Search for hours and cant find what you are
  looking for.
• No central card catalog organized by topic,
  subject, or author
• Educational sites are abundant but hard to find.

• Poor Scheduling
• No realistic expectations
• No clear instructions
• Unfamiliar with website

Technical Difficulties

• Internet traffic jams
• Website can suddenly slow to a crawl or stop
  completely.
• Is it the Internet, the local network or the
  workstation?
• Teachers have little time to troubleshoot
  especially in the middle of an assignment.

Objectionable Website

• Sites contain material that can seriously disrupt
  the most orderly classroom.
• Objectionable websites can be accessed at the
  click of the button.
• Some students intentionally sabotage a lesson.

Obtrusive Advertising

• Internet brings a barrage of advertising in the
  classroom.
• Businesses have taken over large areas of the
  Internet.
• Advertising dominates large portions of the World
  Wide Web.
• Enticing banner ads ae ubiquitous.
• Altavista and Lycos have ads on almost every page.

My Personal Obstacles

• Not enough computers.
• Students staying on assigned website.
• Students needing assistance.
• Students following instructions.
• Students not knowing the keyboard.

Overcoming Obstacles

• Preparation Practice your assignment.
• Ask your principal for more computers.
• Take courses technology is always changing
• Check out websites before assignment.

• Request purchasing filtering software.
• Dont use computers as a reward.
• Have students as technology helpers.
• MAKE ALL PROJECTS EXCITING!!!!
