  • Obtaining this information from the caller can be
    critical to responder safety

  • Is Red, has a flame
  • Indicates a Class 3 material
  • Primarily used when different materials of the
    same class are stored together. Each class has
    its own color and design

  • Specific Placard - identifies exact substance in
    container or vehicle. Uses the same coloring and
    shape, but displays a number that identifies what
    is contained.
  • This number corresponds to an ID number in the
    North American Emergency Response Guidebook.
