WHERE ARE WE NOW?
  • CSF needs to
  • Map the involvement of schools in adult learning
  • Further strengthen the consultancy and support
service for schools to develop their community
engagement and role in adult learning
  • Ensure school premises meet ALI standards
  • Link adult learning to the Schools Self
    Evaluation Framework
  • Ensure the development of adult learning in
school settings is included in the ACL Plan for
    2003/04

7
QUALITY OF ACL PROVISION
  • ACL provision including family learning
needs to comply with Adult Learning Inspectorate
(ALI) requirements and the Common Inspection
Framework. We need to address the following
    issues
  • Access
  • Assessment of learners needs
  • Lesson Plans
  • Qualified staff
  • Demonstrable evidence of learner achievement
  • Evidence of listening to learners
  • Progression opportunities clearly signposted

8
WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO?
  • Further strengthen working relationships with
    CEDOs
  • Develop a consistent framework for ACL delivery
    in schools
  • Improve the ACL strand of community plans
  • Further strengthen partnership collaboration
with colleges and other local adult learning
    providers
  • Align schools community funding streams
  • Include schools in the ACL Schedule of Activities
  • Encourage schools to participate in Learning
    Forums

9
SCHOOL/COLLEGE COLLABORATION
  • Currently Schools act in any of three capacities
in respect of Colleges and ACL delivery as-
  • - premises
  • - partners in the planning and delivery of
  • programmes
  • - providers
  • A set of working arrangements/protocol needs to
    be devised that addresses
  • who is responsible for what
  • what the funding arrangement should be
  • how quality will be assured
