Promoting self management is a skilled activity

• Facilitators need to be trained and knowledgeable
  in evidence based models
• May a solution in itself or part of solution (eg
  holding for HI work or access to practical help
  with life problems)
• Accessible practical locations
• Targeting vulnerable groups and widening access
  equity of health provision
• Embedded within a system where review/audit of
  materials is seen as core task

Group Activity

• Look at the self help materials within your group
  
• Consider the four areas in relation to each
  material
• Using the scale below score the material on each
  dimension
• Add the scores and divide by five
• Rank the materials by their scores make notes
  on the rationale for your decision making
