bipod eliminates the weight of a bipod on the
spare barrel - CNC lightweight Aluminum forearm/pistol grip for
improved control and protection during firing.
New integrated fire control system bracket gives
the weapon 24 hour capability (U.S. standard foot
or Picatinny rail Stanag mount) - Feed cover eliminates charging jams and improves
operator safety - Lightweight trigger assembly with ambidextrous
safety switch and winter trigger guard allows gun
to be fired with winter mittens - Flat spring on trigger assembly prevents
accidental detachment of the assembly. - Lightweight butt stock with hinged shoulder rest
and improved buffer attachment mechanism provides
for fail-safe attachment of the butt stock to the
receiver - Adjustable forward grip for improved control,
better heat protection
7M60E3
- The M60E3 is the lightest product improvement of
the M60. The M60E3 differs from the standard M60
in that it is five pounds lighter, has an easily
deployable bipod mounted to the receiver and a
carrying handle attached to the barrel features
twin pistol grips for better control.
8M60E3 Key Features
- The M60E3 fires NATO standard 7.62mm ammunition.
Because it is more easily stabilized than other
7.62mm machine guns, it delivers this fire
accurately and reliably out to its one kilometer
maximum effective range. Firing state-of-the-art
saboted rounds, it is capable of defeating light
armor at tactical engagement ranges. - The M60E3, like the M60, may be employed as
either an assault or unit support weapon. The new
configuration has several advantages. In the
assault, the twin pistol grips provide better
control while firing on the move. Quickly
deployable bipod legs permit instantaneous
transition to the prone position for covering
fire. The combination of the receiver mounted
bipod legs and the carrying handle attached to
the barrel greatly facilitate rapid changes of
hot barrels. For support fire delivered from
prepared position, the M122 tripod with
traversing and elevating mechanism is available.
The M60E3 has been adopted by the U.S. Navy, Air
Force and Marine Corps and saw extensive use
during Operation Desert Storm.
9M60D Enhanced
- The M60D model differs from the standard M60 in
that the butt stock and trigger grip assemblies
are replaced with spade grips and a spade trigger
assembly. The rear sight is replaced with a ring
sight to assist in acquiring and tracking
targets. This permits aimed fire from a pedestal
or other similar mount. The M60Dis the model
designed for mounting on wheeled and tracked
vehicles, naval craft, and as a door gun on
utility and cargo helicopters. Mounted on pintle
type assemblies, the M60D provides fire support
for ground operations.
10M60D Enhanced Key Features
- The M60D Enhanced incorporates a bipod mounted on
the front of the receiver instead of mounted on
the barrel. - The new bipod is lighter but just as strong as
the original and reduces the weight and bulk of
the spare barrels. - Extra sear notch on the operating rod, which
prevents a runaway machine gun. - The M60D Enhanced also features an improved
feedcover, which permits the user to load the
weapon with the bolt in the closed position. - Barrel changing handle eliminates need for heat
mitten
11M60 E4/Mk 43 Conversion Kit
- The M60E4 Conversion Kit can be used to modify
any serviceable M60 receiver. Kit installation
can be completed at U.S. ORDNANCE or at the
customer facility after training of technical
personnel by U.S. ORDNANCE. The installation of
this kit on any new M60 Machine Gun brings with
it a new gun warranty and features that eliminate
weight and increase reliability.

18Comparison Notes
- The lower cyclic rate of the M60E4/Mk43 allows
for effective single and three round burst fire
eliminating the need for selective fire. - Barrowing from military experience within the
NATO arena MMGs are primarily employed from
their integral bipod mount, i.e. as a light
support weapon, and firing techniques are
effective out to 800 meters. The 800 meters of
effective range, when an MMG is used as a light
support weapon is a good method of evaluation, as
800 meters is about the maximum range a 7.62 ball
round will penetrate an M1, U.S., steel helmet.
Helmet penetration is a common aspect of
determining effective maximum effective range.
For U.S. 7.62mm NATO ammunition the maximum range
of ball projectiles is 3,725 meters. However at
this range, the projectile is not considered
lethal by military definition. - The M60E4 500-650 round rate of fire is
considered leathal at the beaten zone but
allows for the conservation of ammunition. The
lighter M60E4 allows for the transport of
approximately xxx rounds of additional ammunition
when compared to the M240. This result in
approximately Xxmin of leathal fire at the beaten
zone. - The M60E4 gas cylinder is attached to each barrel
unlike the other gun systems where the gas
cylinder is attached to the reciever. This gives
the M60E4 a significant advantage over the
competition in that a failure durring combate of
the gas system can be corrected by a relatively
quick barrel change. Other units require field
stripping and cleaning of the gas system which is
a significantly more time consuming process.
