Minitab Chapter 5
  • Graphing Data
  • Presented For
  • IET603 Section 200
  • Dr. Ahmed Zargari
  • by
  • Rick Wagoner

2
Graphing Data
  • Minitab is capable of performing the following
    functions concerning graphs
  • Create graphs
  • Manage graphs
  • Editing graphs
  • Brush data points in graphs
  • Print graphs
  • Save graphs

3
Creating Graphs
  • Minitab supports 3 types of graphs
  • Core graphs
  • The most common and simplest type of graph
  • Specialty graphs
  • Pre-customized graphs that combine data from core
graphs to present information in sophisticated
    ways
  • Character graphs
  • Graphs formed by using characters that display in
    the session window

4
Core Graph Using Groups
5
Managing Graphs
  • You can have up to 100 graphs open at one time.
  • You can use the Manage Graphs dialog box to
arrange, rename, open and close multiple graphs.

6
Editing Graphs
  • You can use the tool palette to create text,
rectangles, ovals, lines, markers, and polygons.
  • You can use the attribute palette to change
color, type, and size of objects on the graph.
  • Changes made with the editing palettes apply to
    the current graph only.

8
Brushing Data Points
  • Brushing allows you to highlight points on a
graph and see the corresponding observations.
  • Brushing is especially good for highlighting
outliers and telling whether points in a brushed
    region share characteristics.

Printing and Saving Graphs
  • Click File Print Graph to print the selected
    graph.
  • Click File Save Graph As to save the currently
