On-Screen Help Menu

• The help menu is located in the start-up folder.
  It automatically launches each time the computer
  is started. (The network must be connected)
• The help menu is a link to our AVServices Web
  Page. It looks like this.

Hardware Security

• All systems have push-button locks with 6 digit
  numerical codes
• We prefer to reveal codes
• in person
• by return telephone call
• by e-mail
• The codes will be changing this Fall!

Software

• All systems will include Office 2000 and URCOMM
  (including PowerPoint and Netscape)
• This web site, PowerPoint in the Classroom, may
  be useful if you are new to PowerPoint
• To request other software, contact the Help Desk
  at 4685
• Every classroom computer we provide will include
  the same software

System Security

• Each computer mirrored from a master computer
• The C drive and system is protected by Fortres
• The D drive is open or unprotected - save files
  to the D drive

Network

• Each built-in classroom system is connected to
  the University network
• Each portable system can also be connected to the
  network
• You may browse without log-in
• You must log-in to Novel to use the Network
• Use the Network Neighborhood or Network Drive I
• Demo...

Details and dangers

• Data projectors - very bright - dont look in
  lens
• Data projectors - allow them complete an
  automatic 1 minute cool-down cycle when you turn
  off the power - Do not interrupt the power during
  this shut down period
• Custom consoles - please put loose peripherals
  back in the cabinet and ensure it is locked and
  secure (including remote controls, wireless mouse
  and keyboard and wireless microphone)

A Word on Wireless

• Some systems use a wireless mouse and keyboard
• Each has a proximity limit of about 1.5 meters
