113 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses,
and three hundred concubines and his wives
turned away his heart. 114 For it was so, when
Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart
after other gods and his heart was not loyal to
the Lord his God (1 Kings 113, 4)

• David Samson Giving in ? Detached

It happened in the spring of the year, at the
time when kings go out to battle, that David sent
Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel
and they destroyed the people of Ammon and
besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.
Then it happened one evening that David arose
from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's
house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing,
and the woman was very beautiful to behold. So
David sent and inquired about the woman. And
someone said, Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter
of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? Then
David sent messengers, and took her and she came
to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed
from her impurity and she returned to her house.

Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot,
Simon's son, who would betray Him, said, Why was
this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred
denarii and given to the poor? This he said, not
that he cared for the poor, but because he was a
thief, and had the money box and he used to take
what was put in it. (John 124-6)

• 1 John 215-17
• Do not love the world or the things in the world.
  If any one loves the world, love for the Father
  is not in him. For all that is in the world, the
  lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and
  the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of
  the world. And the world passes away, and the
  lust of it but he who does the will of God
  abides for ever.

1. Love for the World Pushes Out Love for the
Father

• God and the world at the same time ? You cannot!
• No one can serve two masters for either he will
  hate the one and love the other, or he will be
  devoted to the one and despise the other. You
  cannot serve God and money (Matthew 624)

2. The World Is Passing Away and Its Lusts

• No one invests in a company that is sure to go
  bankrupt.
• Nobody sets up a house in a sinking ship
• No one would hide a treasure where moth and rust
  destroy and thieves break in and steal?
• The world is passing away and its lust!

3. If You Do the Will of the Father, You Will
Live Forever

• Delayed Gratification
• Loving the Father ? Doing His will
• For this is the will of God, your
  sanctification that you should abstain from
  sexual immorality (1 Thessalonians 43)
