Welcome to Holmemead

Uniform

• Uniform includes white shirt or blue polo shirt
  with the emblem on, grey trousers or skirt and
  the Holmemead jumper. The polo shirts can be worn
  through all of the year shirts in the winter must
  be long sleeved with a tie and in summer short
  sleeved if preferred without tie.
• The sports uniform concludes of white polo shirt
  with emblem and black shorts with white or blue
  socks in the summer and rugby shirt, tracksuit
  bottoms,
• royal blue socks and football boots or
• trainers.

Lessons and Facilities

• There are some lessons at Holmemead that your
  child never will have done like French, Design
  Technology and P.S.H.C.E. Some lessons are
  repeated during the day usually Maths or English
  and in years 6,7,8 double lessons of D.T and
  geography or history.
• Facilities that Holmemead has for your child
  include a fully equipped library and ICT suite,
  gym, cafeteria and the Space for Sports and Arts.
• To every lesson children bring their own
• equipment, a pencil case and pens,
• pencils etc.

Lunch and Breaks

• The morning break lasts for twenty minutes and
  lunch lasts for an hour.
• At lunch you can either have a packed lunch,
  school dinner, which is a cooked meal, or a hub
  meal which consists of a roll, baguette or wrap,
  a drink, fruit and a desert. Other drinks can be
  bought from the cafeteria from range of prices.
• At lunchtime there are many places to go like the
  Quad for sitting and talking, the playground for
• running around and clubs for whatever
• the club is e.g.. Netball, football and ICT.

Timetables and Planners

• Each class has a timetable of twenty five
  lessons a week, in year five the lessons
  don't move around much but further up the school
  you have to move to different classrooms for
  most lessons.
• Every child has a planner to keep a record of
  homework
• for every day and when it's due in for, in a
  planner you also have your timetable and other
  extras.
• The planner has to be signed every week by
• his a parent to show that your child has
  done
• or her homework.

Homework

• Unlike lower schools every child will receive
  homework weekly, the amount of homework given
  will increase during the years.
• In year five pupils will only get homework once
  or twice a week, year six three or fours times a
  week and most days for years seven and eights.
• Mostly homework given is English, Maths and
  Science but sometimes finishing off work from
  other lessons.
• Yet if homework is not in on time a detention
  will be given but for good homework stars and
  merits.
