Background

• Internet Futures project combines staff in
  Network Services, Data Grids, Visualisation,
  TeleCollaboration
• Very user focussed, ANU foremost but a national
  (and international) view
• Initiated out of the GrangeNet project
• High-speed 5-10Gb/s RE backbone Mel/Cbr/Syd/Bne
• Around 7EFT
• Students to start next year, hopefully

• Large-scale (10-20TB) archive of

  well as Rights-Management)

• Never before brought together under one banner

• Efficient access requires mirroring or caching
• Full access requires rights-management
• Useful access requires computing, visualisation
• ANU, and pretty much every other major
  University, CSIRO and various major BioInformatic
  research centres.
