Jeffersons Education

• Jefferson was Educated at the College of William
  and Mary from 1670-1672
• George Wythe was T.J.s political mentor.
• Allowed him to open his own law practice in 1767.

Jefferson on Slavery

• The whole commerce between master and slave is
  an exercise of the worst repression on the one
  part, and degrading submissions on the other. Our
  children see this, and learn to imitate it.
• Even though he claimed that All men are created
  equal,Jefferson was an Aristocratic Slave Owner.
• However, Jefferson did believe in a gradual
  emancipation of slaves.

  he wrote the Declaration of Independence.
• 1776 Entered the Virginia House of Delegates,
  where he fought for the separation of church and
  state.
• 1779 Jefferson became the Governor of Virginia.

• 1789 Appointed Secretary of State.
• 1796 Vice President to John Adams.
