Born in Albemarle Co. VA in 1743
  • Jefferson was born to a wealthy family in the
    Piedmont.

  • Jefferson was Educated at the College of William
    and Mary from 1670-1672
  • George Wythe was T.J.s political mentor.
  • Allowed him to open his own law practice in 1767.

Jefferson on Slavery
  • The whole commerce between master and slave is
    an exercise of the worst repression on the one
    part, and degrading submissions on the other. Our
    children see this, and learn to imitate it.
  • Even though he claimed that All men are created
    equal,Jefferson was an Aristocratic Slave Owner.
  • However, Jefferson did believe in a gradual
    emancipation of slaves.
