Imagine yourself in the following situation

You have a stop-over at Heathrow International
Airport in London, England and youre very hungry
because you werent served breakfast on your
morning flight. You go to one of the airport
shops, buy a package of cookies and put them
into your carry-on luggage.

You venture back into the airport, which is very
noisy and crowded. Exhausted, you finally find
a seat. After a minute of your stomach
growling, you reach down into your bag and pull
out your package of cookies. Ah, now to enjoy
your cookies!

What is unnerving about the situation is that the
man next to you is literally staring at the
cookies his eyes riveted on your package! As
you open the package and take out the first
cookie, his eyes follow your hand to your mouth.
Then, without saying a word, he reaches for the
package and grabs a cookie! Youre
shocked! Youre speechless.

You are in England, so you think, How would the
English react? The answer comes to you, Keep
a stiff upper lip, pretend the situation is not
happening and say nothing. Not knowing how to
react, you impulsively go for another cookie. He
grabs another. And so it goes.

How would you describe this man to your spouse or
to a colleague at work? What an aggressive
jerk! Maybe they didnt serve breakfast on
the flight either. Hes obviously with
government hes used to taking 50
percent! What would you do? Lick all the
cookies? Swear at him? Punch him?

With all the reserve of a Brit, you continue to
ignore the situation and do nothing. You take a
cookie. He grabs the next. Finally, its down to
one cookie. He reaches over, grabs the last
cookie, breaks it in half, gives you half and
eats half himself. In a great indignant huff,
you gather up your belongings and forfeit your
seat anything to get away from this cookie
snatcher!

Youre terribly upset. Your stomach is churning.
You decide to go back to the shop and get some
Alka-Seltzer and more cookies. You pay for your
new purchases and open your carry-on luggage to
drop them in. And what do you see? Your unopened
package of cookies! Suddenly you realize that
you accidentally reached down into HIS luggage
and were eating HIS package of cookies!
