Current Aspects ofStudio Culture
Diversity
  • Students should lead balanced lives
  • Design is the integration of many parts
  • All classes are significant, not only studio
  • Varied studio structures

If we want professionals to lead balanced,
healthy lives,
we should not expect them to put off
that mindset until later in life.

Current Aspects ofStudio Culture
Community
  • Collaboration is the art of design
  • Design is inherently an interdisciplinary act
  • There is a world outside of design studio
  • Critiques and juries are expanded learning
    opportunities

Studio commands an increasingly greater role as
the center of students social lives,
and
consequently, the world outside studio becomes
less important.

To encourage students to work collaboratively,
education must place a priority on communication.
