What is a Local Area Agreement? (LAA)

• 3 year agreement between Central Government and
  the Public Sector Organisations operating in
  Staffordshire
• 3 year delivery plan for Staffordshire Community
  Strategies
• Designed to promote better partnership working
  by
• Agreeing priority outcomes
• Agreeing Enabling Measures
• Removing Bureaucracy
• Simplifying reporting and funding streams
• To deliver a better quality of life for
  Staffordshire People

What is the timetable for the LAA?

• 7 September 2006 Consultation on first working
  draft submission
• 29 September 2006 Working draft submitted to
  Government Office West Midlands (GOWM)
• 17 October 2006 Partnership event to evaluate
  progress
• 3 November 2006 Draft of the final submission
  circulated to partners
• 20 November 2006 LAA Strategic Board approves
  Submission
• 30 November 2006 Final Submission to GOWM
• December 2006 Negotiations between Staffordshire
  partners and Central Government Commences
