This section covers BT Openworld Business Plus
products
4- The Business Plus products are aimed at customers
who wish to connect more than 1 computer to the
service. But the contention ratio is better at
201 instead of 501 as with the Business 500 USB
products. The ratio applies to the core telephone
network which connects the customer from the
local exchange up to BTopenworld and the
internet. See briefing on Contention Ratios in
Essential reading section. - In order to provide a decent speed of service
then we dont recommend more than a max of 30
PCs be connected to the service. - Ill show you how it works in the next slide.

the customer gets
- The ADSL modem is provided as part of the
service. It has 4 Ethernet ports on the back and
allows for 4 PCs to be DIRECTLY connected to it
or 30 PCs (light usage) indirectly connected e.g
from a LAN. - If the customer has a LAN then they can take an
Ethernet connection from one of the LAN PCs and
connect it into one of the 4 ports on the ADSL
modem, thus connecting the LAN to the ADSL
service. There are other ways of connecting the
LAN but contact our Technical help desk to
discuss. - The necessary software drivers will be sent to
the customer in advance of the installation date
as part of a welcome pack. - The BT Ignite engineer will install check and
demonstrate that the service is working as far as
the BTOW ADSL modem, router, hub. It is the
customers responsibility to load any
software, plug in any PCs to the 4 port hub or
make any LAN connections. - The customer can phone our technical help desk
for assistance, where they will be given advice
over the phone only in respect of the BTOW
service and not in relation to reconfiguring
their LAN or PCs. - Refer to the brief Engineering Responsibilities
for a more detailed explanation
