- Provide real-world experience authentic
learning - Authentic teaching improves attitudes and
increases student achievement, interest,
motivation - Authentically-taught students consistently
out-performed those taught in more conventional
ways (Newmann Associates, 1996) - Students did better both on assessments of
advanced skills as well as on standardized tests - Students who connect learning to personal
experiences are more likely to remember facts and
definitions

- Provide support and serve as a resource to ATA
administrators, teachers, and fellows - Extend valuable expertise in math, science, and
technology - Dr. Kurt Gramoll, OU School of Aerospace and
Mechanical Engineering, is internationally known
for his work in electronic learning - Will recruit 3 to 4 additional science / math
faculty - Assist in planning, reviewing content, and
implementation of authentic teaching projects

- Fellow requirements and application available on
line - Due the unique nature of our participating
schools, offers a bilingual component to ensure
that the parents of the secondary students have
