• Provide real-world experience authentic
  learning
• Authentic teaching improves attitudes and
  increases student achievement, interest,
  motivation
• Authentically-taught students consistently
  out-performed those taught in more conventional
  ways (Newmann Associates, 1996)
• Students did better both on assessments of
  advanced skills as well as on standardized tests
• Students who connect learning to personal
  experiences are more likely to remember facts and
  definitions

• University Faculty
• Provide support and serve as a resource to ATA
  administrators, teachers, and fellows
• Extend valuable expertise in math, science, and
  technology
• Dr. Kurt Gramoll, OU School of Aerospace and
  Mechanical Engineering, is internationally known
  for his work in electronic learning
• Will recruit 3 to 4 additional science / math
  faculty
• Assist in planning, reviewing content, and
  implementation of authentic teaching projects

• Due the unique nature of our participating
  schools, offers a bilingual component to ensure
