Bee Sting All players have been stung by an angry
swarm of bees. The bees have released protein
into your bodies. Most of you will experience
some swelling, redness and pain in the area you
were stung but some will be allergic.  Those
allergic to this protein will suffer from
anaphylactic shock and will experience itching
skin, hives, breathing trouble, collapse of the
circulatory system, and sometimes vomiting,
diarrhoea, and cramps in the stomach. Immediate
treatment is needed!  Those allergic need
adrenalin immediately! Pay doctors fees of 2
counters.
Biological Weapon Attack Someone has launched an
attack on Northern Ireland using airborne
Anthrax. The government cannot provide you with
any protection at the moment. You have been
advised to stay indoors and seal up your rooms
using tape or wet towels. Anthrax cannot be
passed from person to person but you are at risk
from the spores, which have been released into
the air.  All players lose 4 counters.

Sinus Infection  Unfortunately you have developed
sinusitis. (An infection of the sinuses and nose
passages) Treatments Drink plenty of water and
hydrating beverages. Hot tea is often
recommended. Inhale steam 2-4 times per day by
leaning over a bowl of boiling hot water and use
over the counter drugs called decongestants To
clear up the problem you need to ask your doctor
for antibiotics, which will cost you 2 counters
or you can allow your immune system to recover
slowly itself, costing you a missed turn. Its
up to you!
Flu Epidemic  This winter the flu epidemic has
hit again throughout the country. This virus
continually shifts and changes, leaving those who
have suffered a flu virus before still
unprotected as the body does not recognise this
new virus and cannot produce antibodies to
overcome it so re-infection occurs. Those
susceptible to the flu are the very young and
very old.  All players that have been given the
flu jab gain 2 counters, all others place 2
counters on the doctors fee collection point.

Measles Outbreak  There has been an increasing
number of children who have been diagnosed with
measles in your area. Doctors say that this is
due to the recent MMR vaccination scare.
(Measles, Mumps and Rubella) Parents are
choosing not to give the vaccination, which takes
place around 4 months old, because of a report
stating the link between MMR and autism in
children. Others have linked child deaths to
vaccinations. However, doctors claim that
although there are risks of side effects to
vaccinations, the vaccines are much safer
compared to the disease they stop. All vaccinated
players receive 3 counters, all others lose 3.
Tuberculosis (TB)   There is an outbreak of
Tuberculosis at this table! There is a rising
number of people today who get tuberculosis
because they have low immunity, mostly as a
result of drugs that stop the immune system from
working or HIV/AIDS. These people are at
particular risk of tuberculosis infection. You
may be vaccinated!(BCG) All players that are not
vaccinated lose 3 counters.

Cleaners Strike  Cleaners in hospitals throughout
your area have gone on strike because of a pay
row. Hospital staff are worried as a type of
bacterium known as MRSA, (Methicillin Resistant
Staphylococcus Aureus) is now on the rise within
hospitals and more and more patients are at risk.
The government is refusing to bring in more
staff and families are angered.  MRSA is a
bacteria resistant to common antibiotics and when
it infects already very sick patients with low
immunity it might kill. Staff must be very
particular in hand washing routines but this
wont be worthwhile if surfaces are not cleaned
properly.  All players with low immunity lose 3
counters.
Stressed Out!!! You have become extremely
stressed because you have overspent on your
credit cards and have run out of money. This
means your immune system is slower to react to
bacteria and viruses which may enter your body.
Therefore you are more likely to get sick. You
lose 1 counter

Chicken Pox Epidemic You are at risk if
you havent had chickenpox as a child and have no
natural immunity to the virus. You are more
likely to catch infections such as chickenpox or
shingles if you have a lowered immune system,
because your body is less able to make antibodies
to fight it off. People with a weakened immune
system include those with cancer, HIV, or AIDS,
or people having steroid or chemotherapy
treatment. Catching chickenpox when pregnant can
also be dangerous to the unborn baby. If you
catch it within the first 20 weeks of pregnancy
theres about a 1 in 50 chance of the baby
having an abnormality. ALL PLAYERS that have
never suffered from chicken pox or have low
immunity, lose 3 counters.
Rabies You have been bitten by a wild fox that is
infected with rabies. Rabies is a disease caused
by a virus found in the saliva of infected
animals and is transmitted to pets and humans by
bites. You are at risk of dying a painful death
within 10 days. You need one treatment of human
rabies immunoglobulin. (HRIG) This will cost you
4 counters in doctors fees.

Salmonella  Baxters chocolate have been linked
to to an outbreak of salmonella. The
contamination has been traced to a leaking pipe
at a Baxters plant in Belfast. Samples were
sent to a laboratory after the leak was
discovered at the Boucher Road plant, and the
strain of salmonella was identified. Symptoms
include Diarrhoea or constipation, headaches,
stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting, fever and
possibly, blood in the faeces. All players who
enjoy Baxters chocolate pay doctors fees of 2
counters.
Avian Flu  A month ago, a dead swan was
discovered half a kilometre from your home and
was found to have H5N1 influenza virus (bird
flu), now 3 people have developed moderate to
severe lung problems. The government have issued
a voluntary quarantine measure to help stop the
spread of the disease. There is closure of all
schools and workplaces in a 5km radius and public
transport has stopped until further notice.
 The government have given out a vaccine only to
those who work in health care. All other players
must lose 4 counters.

Ahh Choo!!! Hay fever The hot weather this
summer has increased the pollen count so hay
fever sufferers are badly affected. The immune
system overreacts to the perfectly harmless
pollen, causing itching, sneezing and redness of
eyes. A chemical called histamine is released
into the body, therefore you need anti-histamine
to reduce its effects. This costs you 1 counter
Diabetes You have been diagnosed with Type 1
diabetes, your pancreas no longer makes insulin
because your bodys immune system has attacked
and destroyed the insulin producing cells. You
will need to control your diet carefully, inject
with insulin and be physically active. You lose
4 counters

Malaria You where recently on safari in South
Africa. BUT you did not follow your doctors
instructions and did not take your anti-malaria
tablets. Therefore you were at a high risk of
infection from mosquito bites. You have fever,
aching, feeling cold and sweating. You will need
to be put into quarantine and treated with drugs
to kill the parasites. You lose 4 counters
Rheumatoid Arthritis   Your immune system has
started to attack itself and some joints are
inflamed. This mostly starts between the ages of
30 50. It occurs more often in women than in
men and is a very painful disease and will most
likely shorten your life and limit your movement
in some way. No one knows how bad the disease
will get! Its going to slow you down, so miss a
turn if youre over 50
