shortened practice one day a week for study hall,
they received special recognition from the
Governor.

The football field, once filled with athletes
running plays and drills is now empty.

Wanting to improve their grades, students stayed
after school for a tutoring program set up by the
National Honor Society.

Though free stuff and rewards are bring given to
hard workers, Hal Jalikakick says, I hate school
and some stupid free doughnut isnt going to make
me try any harder.

To recognize honor roll students, scholarship
winners and Bright Flight scholars, the school
held its first academic assembly this week.

Taking grades seriously is the name of the game
for coaches and their teams at Lafayette.

The library, usually empty, was full of hulking
lineman, receivers and quarterbacks who had used
one practice during the week for mandatory study
hall.

Free doughnuts. That is what is coming for
students with all passing grades.

The smell of Krispy Kreme doughnuts fills the
Commons each Friday now that students are getting
good grades.

Doughnuts, off-campus lunches, Homecoming
discounts. These are all rewards that OC students
will receive for achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Students flocked to the gym in massive waves. The
bleacher seats filled quickly as the last of the
students made their way in. A couple thousand
withstood the head and rigid bleachers in order
to be part of the first academic assembly.

Before heading to class, Ty Tannic heads to the
Cafeteria to get his free Krispy Kreme.

Though Orange Country High is known for big
muscles, recently coaches have been focused on
building big brains.
