2Review from Previous Messages
- David was a man after Gods own HEART!
- We Kill Giants by doing common things, UNCOMMONLY
well! - Let God do the JUDGING, while you do the
LOVING!
3Spiritual Slumping
- Spirituality is NOT a matter of the absence or
presence of Problems. - It is a matter of who is in the DRIVERS SEAT
during the problems! - The Fight for the Wheel produces a roller
coaster ride.
4YOU DRIVE
Stress, Doubt, Depression
OR
Peace, Fulfillment, Joy
5I. CAUSE of Spiritual Slumping
- SELF - Centered not GOD - Centered But David
thought to himself - FATALISTIC not Faith Filled. One of these
days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul - CONVIENCE not COURAGE The best thing I can do
is to escape to the land of the Philistines
1 Samuel 271 But David thought to himself, "One
of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of
Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the
land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up
searching for me anywhere in Israel, and I will
slip out of his hand."
6II. CHARACTERISTICS of Spiritual Slumping
- False Sense of SECURITY 274
- COMPROMISE with the Enemy. 275-7
- Deception, Cover-up and LIES. 278-12
7III. CONSEQUENCES of Spiritual Slumping
- David Lost His IDENTITY. 296-8a
- David Lost His PEACE. 298
- David Lost His PROTECTION. 301-4
- David Lost His RESPECT. 306a
8IV. SOLUTION RESULTS
- 1. David RETURNS to the LORD. 1Samuel
306b But David found strength in the Lord his
God. - 2. God brings FORGIVENESS and RESTORATION.
1 Samuel 3018-20 David recovered everything
the Amalekites had taken, including his two
wives. 19Nothing was missing young or old, boy
or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken.
David brought everything back. 20He took all the
flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of
the other livestock, saying, "This is David's
plunder."
9- 1 John 19 If we confess our sins, he is faithful
and just and will forgive us our sins and purify
us from all unrighteousness.
- SALVATION
- Acknowledge Your Sins
- Believe in Your Heart
- Confess Jesus as Savior Lord
Romans 323 for all have sinned and fall short of
the glory of God, Romans 109-10 That if you
confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and
believe in your heart that God raised him from
the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with
your heart that you believe and are justified,
and it is with your mouth that you confess and
are saved.
10V. LESSONS TO LEARN
- There are CONSEQUENCES to the choices we make!
- Dark Days requires RIGHT thinking and VERTICAL
focus! - Return to the Lord finding
FORGIVENESS and RESTORATION!
Lament. 340 Let us examine our ways and test
them, and let us return to the Lord.
