Background Info.

• Born in East L.A. and spent her formative years
  there.
• In Elementary school she found an old enlarger in
  at a local flea market, I learned backwards,
  Miranda said. I learned to print before I
  learned to take pictures.
• She attended Long Beach State, were she
  originally went for a degree in Radio TV.
• At Long Beach she took a photo class where she
  was later asked as an undergrad to teach a
  beginning photo class. Miranda declined, but
  later agreed and continued to teach there for 12
  years.
• 1988 she moved to Colorado, where she continued
  to teach, until recently retiring. (2006)

Artist Statement

• Photography is an intimate, intensely personal
  thing. The use of it expresses you, characterizes
  you as a certainly as does your handwriting, your
  manner of speech or the friends you choose.
• I believe we are at our best when we are
  responding to an inter hunch to create. In
  photography many different creative skills are
  involved from a discerning, picture-wise way of
  looking at thing to a mastery of printing and
  developing/ or processing skills.
• But, but no matter how involved I may become
  with the techniques of photography, I keep in
  mind the central fact that every bit of technique
  has only one real function--- to give the viewer,
  ultimately, a photograph which will be a
  permanent record of something I saw, something I
  looked at and enjoyed in my own, individual way.
• My photographs remember things long after I have
  forgotten
