culturally/linguistically appropriate diabetes
education and support
38How do NOs collaborate with DPCPs?
- Some examples
- DPCPs are represented on NO coalitions (e.g.,
Papa Ola Lokahi, National Medical Association) - DPCPs provide support to NO programs (e.g.,
Connecticut DPCP Coordinator works closely with
Khmer Health Advocates) - DPCPs may participate in NO Events (e.g., OK DPCP
participated in AAIPs Diabetes Today Training) - NOs (or their project sites) may participate on
DPCP Diabetes Advisory Councils (e.g., NASNs
Albuquerque site) - NOs provide copies of their products to DPCPs
(e.g., National Alliance shared Juntos contra la
diabetes Together Against Diabetes
curriculum)
39What are some ways DPCPs could collaborate with
NOs?
- Participate in or provide support to NOs local
coalitions (e.g., share data) - Invite NO representatives to participate in
DPCP-led coalitions - Reach intended target audiences through
NO-related efforts
40Links Between NDEP and DPCPs
- DPCPs are critical partners for NDEP and are a
primary target audience to use and help
disseminate NDEP materials - DPCPs are asked to complete the NDEP Partnership
Survey twice a year - DPCPs serve on selected NDEP work groups
- DPCPs are charged with addressing all DDT
National Objectives NOs are charged with working
toward 2 or more of the DDT National Objectives
41Links Between NDEP and DPCPs, (continued)
- NDEP staff have provided TA to DPCPs, e.g.,
Diabetes at Work workshop for Puerto Rico DPCP,
PA DPCP - Papa Ola Lokahi, an NDEP grantee, has provided TA
