2Questions you might have
- How can I continue to train myself on gLite ?
- Can I access the grid from my PC ?
- Can I book a grid training infrastructure for a
gLite tutorial in my lab/department ? - How can I install a grid training infrastructure
in my lab/department ? - How can I get support ?
3The GILDA t-Infrastructure(https//gilda.ct.infn.
it)
GILDA is an international effort funded by
different sources.
4and the Projects using GILDA
GILDA is really serving EU FP6 grid projects.
5The GILDA Testbed(https//gilda.ct.infn.it/testbe
d.html)
20 sites in 3 continents (3 sites belonging to
ICEAGE!)
6How to join GILDA
Clear instructions for different kinds of
learners (users, sysadmins) about how to access
the t-Infrastructure.
7The GILDA Certification Authority(https//gilda.c
t.infn.it/CA)
Makes the complex grid authentication procedures
easier both for direct and self-paced
learners.
8The GILDA Virtual Organization(https//voms.ct.in
fn.it8443/voms/gilda/)
600 people registered in the GILDA VO! 400
real users 200 generic users 30
educators
9GILDA course request(https//gilda.ct.infn.it/req
uest_tutorial)
10The GILDA Portals
Easy to use. Hide the complexities of the
middleware if this is not the topic to be
taught. Extremely useful also for self-pace
learning.
11Grid in a box the GILDA User Interface
PlugPlay (https//gilda.ct.infn.it/UIPnP/)
Can be used in all kind of courses. Ideal for
self-paced and/or remote learning.
12Grid in a box/room the GILDA Virtual Services
(t-Infrastructure scalability)(https//gilda.ct.
infn.it/VirtualServices.html)
Wiki pages available
3 TB of virtual software services already
downloaded!
13The GILDA Training Material(https//grid.ct.infn.
it/twiki/bin/view/GILDA/WebHome)
70 topics (user induction, grid services
installation and management, application
development) with plenty of exercises. Three
levels of difficulty Basic, Medium, and
Advanced.
14(Some) University courses using GILDA(several
countries, several languages)
- The ICEAGE t-Infrastructure scales beyond its own
limits and enables an effective tech- nology
transfer. - GILDA is not only bookable on-demand
- but it is also clonable on-demand.
- Thanks to ICEAGE, big opportunities
- for a new training open up for educators.
15Training on application development the GILDA
Forge(https//gilda-forge.ct.infn.it)
16The GILDA Support System(https//gilda-support.ct
.infn.it)
17Middlewares co-existence in GILDA (1/2)
- GILDA is not any more gLite centric. In the
context of ICEAGE (triggered by the requirements
of Summer Schools), the GILDA Team has carried
out an important study about the co-existence of
several middlewares on the same physical
computing and storage resources. - Present results
- Super User Interface a machine (real or virtual)
with a gLite User Interface, a Globus Toolkit 4
(GT4) client, and an OMII-UK client on board. - Super Computing Element the same Torque/MAUI
farm can execute jobs coming from gLite, GT4, and
OMII-UK. - The same GILDA CA certificates can be used with
all the 3 different middlewares.
