Liquid as a medium

  passes through it.

Speed of Waves

• How do we calculate the speed of a wave?
• Speed Wavelength / Period
• For this simple equation, plug in the two
  variables you know to find the value of the
  unknown variable.
• For a wave that is 5 m long and takes 3 seconds
  to pass, the speed is 1.67 m/s.

Wave collisions

• Waves can collide and combine to be either
  constructive or destructive interference.

Wave Reflections

• When a wave comes into contact with a barrier,
  the incident wave bounces off as a reflected
  wave. The angle of the incident wave is equal to
  the angle of the reflected wave.
• What angle does the normal make with the barrier?

What about underneath the water?

• How do particles underneath the waters surface
  react to a wave?
• Work in teams of two. One person will enter the
  data into the simulator, the other will record
  the results in an Excel spreadsheet in the
  colored cells.
• Print out your data and use it to answer the
  questions on your worksheet.
