Council Motion
  • Analyze the following alternatives
  • Status quo
  • Amend scallop and king and Tanner crabs FMPs and
    adopt a new Arctic FMP with two options
  • Close all waters north of Bering Strait to
    commercial fishing for all species
  • As above, but leave waters between Bering Strait
    and Point Hope open to commercial fishing for red
    king crab

  • Councils Ecosystem Committee will oversee
    development of Arctic FMP
  • Council requests that staff consult with
    stakeholders, including Arctic communities, to
    outline Council intent and objectives, and to
    seek input and suggestions for future fishery
    management in the Arctic
