Beer is a Czech national drink. There is not a
Czech, that wouldt know beer. Because
beerdrinkers are everywhere. In politics, in
movies, in the theatre. Actually, even Czech
celebrities belong to beerdrinkers. Lets have a
look at them.

History

• The first reference of brewering beer in Bohemia
  dates back to 993
• Brewery Bavarian-type beer with upper
  fermantation was brewed
• The licenced to brew beer was provided to all
  middle classes
• In 1712 there were 1294 breweries
• In 1842 a new brewery in Pilsen was opened and a
  new type of beer was given to the world

• In Bohemia there are about 80 breweries
• About 470 types of beer are brewered
• 36 malt houses produced 480 000 tonnes yearly
• Out of it 44.1 is exported
• 18 550 000 hl of beer is produced in Bohemia
  every year
• Out of it 11.5 is exported to Europe, USA and
  Australia

• On average one Czech drinks 322 beers per year,
  it is 161 liters of beer
• This means beer is served in half-liter glasses.

A few informations from Pilsen

• Brewery Prazdroj (Pillsner Urquell) was founded
  in 1842
• Local brewery gave the world a new type of lager.
• Bohemians breweries moved on to this type of
  lager.
• The low fermanted beer is the only one which the
  Czechs drink.

The malt is mixed with water, it is cooked and
strained.

Hops os added to thesimmering malt three times

This wort is added with yeast. After that beer
ferments for 12 days, than it finishes
fermentation for 28 days to get a better taste
