  • a wayward son,
  • Spiteful and wrathful, who, as others do,
  • Loves for his own ends, not for you.
  • Hecate referring to Macbeth says,
  • spiteful and wrathful conveys horrible
    personality.
  • Loves for his own ends. selfish
  • not for you shows that Hecate thinks the
    witches have been foolish and naive.They shall
    gain nothing from this
  • Shows that witches had a purpose- to gain
    attention.
  • Conflict between Hecate and witches- different
    outlook.
  • Note speaking in rhyme- evil!

  • Said by Hecate about Macbeth.

  • Shows the she is rearranging the plans- what
    Macbeth knows may not be the reality.
  • Being fairly secretive even witches- being kept
    in the dark,
  • highlights conflict as Hecate chooses not to
    inform them.
  • Witches know not to question them as she
    overpowers them ( Goddess )

  • Spoken by Hecate- referring to ghostly prophecies
    to be told.
  • illusions will have a severe impact that
    will change everything that Macbeth has worked
    for.

    for Macbeth!
  • Now plotting against Macbeth- wants to confuse
    him and ruin everything for him.

    really is present as Hecate doesnt use
    euphemisms, telling it as it is.
  • Says Macbeth shall put his hopes on a pedestal
    above the reality of what is to come-
    wisdom,grace and fear.

    soldier at beginning fought and won the battle
    now referring to new battle he must overcome.
  • Hecate is mentioning how macbeth
