What is Premillennialism?
  • Pre (before) millennium (1,000 years) ism
    (it aint so)
  • Kingdom of O.T. prophecy not established
  • Nation promise to Abraham not fulfilled
  • Christ was thwarted in his attempt to establish
kingdom, and gave church as stop gap
  • Jews to be converted and restored to Palestine
  • Christ will return and reign for 1,000 yrs. on
    Davids throne in Jerusalem

10
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • I. Premillennialism teaches that God has
guaranteed to restore Jews to Palestine, and that
not until then will the kingdom of O.T. prophecy
    be set up
  • Claims Jews never occupied all the land God
    promised
  • (Josh. 2143) So Jehovah gave unto Israel all
the land which he swore to give unto their
fathers and they possessed it, and dwelt
    therein.

11
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • I. Teaches that God has guaranteed to restore
Jews to Palestine, and that not until then will
the kingdom of O.T. prophecy be set up
  • Teaches Abrahams descendants are in the flesh
rather than in faith Rom. 228-29 Gal. 37,
    26-29

12
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • I. Teaches that God has guaranteed to restore
Jews to Palestine, and that not until then will
the kingdom of O.T. prophecy be set up
  • Teaches Abrahams descendants are in the flesh
rather than in faith Rom. 228-29 Gal. 37,
    26-29
  • For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly
neither is that circumcision which is outward in
the flesh but he is a Jew who is one inwardly
and circumcision is that of the heart, in the
spirit not in the letter whose praise is not of
    men, but of God.

13
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • I. Teaches that God has guaranteed to restore
Jews to Palestine, and that not until then will
the kingdom of O.T. prophecy be set up
  • Teaches Abrahams descendants are in the flesh
rather than in faith Rom. 228-29 Gal. 37,
    26-29
  • Know therefore that they that are of faith, the
    same are sons of Abraham.

Jews to Palestine, and that not until then will
the kingdom of O.T. prophecy be set up
  • Teaches Abrahams descendants are in the flesh
rather than in faith Rom. 228-29 Gal. 37,
    26-29
  • For ye are all sons of God, through faith, in
Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized
into Christ did put on Christ. There can be
neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond
nor free, there can be no male and female for ye
all are one man in Christ Jesus. And if ye are
Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, heirs
    according to promise.

15
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • II. Most teach that Christ intended to set up his
kingdom, but was prevented by the Jews, and the
    church is a substitute.
  • Actually, Jews wanted the kingdom. John 615
  • Jesus therefore perceiving that they were about
to come and take him by force, to make him king,
withdrew again into the mountain himself alone.

16
Premillennialism and the Bible

kingdom, but was prevented by the Jews, and the
    church is a substitute.
  • Church was in Gods eternal purpose. Eph 310-11

kingdom, but was prevented by the Jews, and the
    church is a substitute.
  • Church was in Gods eternal purpose. Eph 310-11
  • to the intent that now unto the principalities
and the powers in the heavenly places might be
made known through the church the manifold wisdom
of God, according to the eternal purpose which
he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord

18
Premillennialism and the Bible

kingdom, but was prevented by the Jews, and the

    his Father. John 174

    his Father. John 174

accomplished the work which thou hast given me to
    do.

  • Dan. 244 And in the days of those kings shall
the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall
never be destroyed, nor shall the sovereignty
thereof be left to another people but it shall
break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms,
and it shall stand for ever.

Premillennialism and the Bible
  • III. P. Teaches that the righteous dead will be
raised, and the unrighteous 1,000 years later
  • But all will hear and come forth. John 528-29
  • Marvel not at this for the hour comes, in
which all that are in the tombs shall hear his
voice, and shall come forth they that have done
good, unto the resurrection of life and they
that have done evil, unto the resurrection of
    judgment.

22
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • III. P. Teaches that the righteous dead will be
raised, and the unrighteous 1,000 years later
  • Good and bad judged at same time. Matt 2531-34,
    41

  • III. P. Teaches that the righteous dead will be
raised, and the unrighteous 1,000 years later
  • Good and bad judged at same time. Matt 2531-34,
    41
  • But when the Son of man shall come in his glory,
and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on
the throne of his glory and before him shall be
gathered all the nations and he shall separate
them one from another, as the shepherd separates
the sheep from the goats and he shall set the
sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the
left. Then shall the King say unto them on his
right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father,
inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the
    foundation of the world

  • III. P. teaches that the righteous dead will be
raised, and the unrighteous 1,000 years later
  • Good and bad judged at same time. Matt 2531-34,
    41
  • Then shall he say also unto them on the left
hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal
fire which is prepared for the devil and his
    angels

25

  • III. P. Teaches that the righteous dead will be
raised, and the unrighteous 1,000 years later
  • The Gospel is for all nations. Matt. 2819
  • Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them into the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

raised, and the unrighteous 1,000 years later
  • Every eye shall see his return. Rev. 17

28
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • III. P. teaches that the righteous dead will be
raised, and the unrighteous 1,000 years later
  • Every eye shall see his return. Rev. 17
  • Behold, he cometh with the clouds and every eye
shall see him, and they that pierced him and all
the tribes of the earth shall mourn over him.
    Even so, Amen.

29
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • IV. P. teaches that after the 2nd coming, Christ
and his saints will reign over all the earth for
    1,000 years
  • They read in Revelation 20 a literal 1,000 year
    reign

30
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • Rev. 201-6 is the foundation passage of the
    Premillennial theory
  • It is on this passage that the whole doctrine of
the millennium as such has been founded. It is
true that there are elsewhere in the scriptures
abundant promises that the gospel will ultimately
spread over the world but the whole notion of a
millennium as such is found in this passage
    alone. (Albert Barnes)

31
  • And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven,
having the key of the abyss and a great chain in
his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, the old
serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound
him for a thousand years, and cast him into the
abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that
he should deceive the nations no more, until the
thousand years should be finished after this he
must be loosed for a little time

32
  • And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and
judgment was given unto them and I saw the souls
of them that had been beheaded for the testimony
of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as
worshipped not the beast, neither his image, and
received not the mark upon their forehead and
upon their hand and they lived, and reigned with
    Christ a thousand years.

33
  • The rest of the dead lived not until the
thousand years should be finished. This is the
first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that
hath part in the first resurrection over these
the second death hath no power but they shall be
priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign
    with him a thousand years.

34
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • Rev. 21 has no mention of
  • Second coming of Christ
  • A bodily resurrection
  • A reign on earth
  • A literal throne of David
  • Jerusalem or Palestine
  • Us
  • Christ on earth
  • (Foy E. Wallace in Gods Prophetic Word)

35
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • (Rev. 2218-19) I testify unto every man that
hears the words of the prophecy of this book, if
any man shall add unto them, God shall add unto
him the plagues which are written in this book
and if any man shall take away from the words of
the book of this prophecy, God shall take away
his part from the tree of life, and out of the
holy city, which are written in this book.

36
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • At the resurrection, we are to meet the Lord in
    the air I Thess. 417
  • then we that are alive, that are left, shall
together with them be caught up in the clouds, to
meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be
    with the Lord.

37
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • Christs kingdom is not of this world John
    1836
  • Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world
if my kingdom were of this world, then would my
servants fight, that I should not be delivered to
the Jews but now is my kingdom not from hence.

38
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • Consider the priesthood and rule of Christ.
  • (Zech. 613) even he shall build the temple of
Jehovah and he shall bear the glory, and shall
sit and rule upon his throne and he shall be a
priest upon his throne and the counsel of peace
    shall be between them both.
  • (Heb. 81) Now in the things which we are saying
the chief point is this We have such a high
priest, who sat down on the right hand of the
throne of the Majesty in the heavens

39
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • The last days were ushered in 2,000 years ago
    Acts 216-17
  • but this is that which hath been spoken through
the prophet Joel And it shall be in the last
days, saith God, I will pour forth of My Spirit
upon all flesh And your sons and your daughters
shall prophesy, And your young men shall see
visions, And your old men shall dream dreams

40
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • Jer. 2230 deals a death blow to the
    premillennial theories
  • Jer 2224-30 As I live, saith Jehovah, though
Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were
the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck
thee thence and I will give thee into the hand
of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of
them of whom thou art afraid, even into the hand
of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the
    hand of the Chaldeans.

41
  • And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that
bare thee, into another country, where ye were
not born and there shall ye die. But to the land
whereunto their soul longs to return, thither
shall they not return. Is this man Coniah a
despised broken vessel? is he a vessel wherein
none delights? wherefore are they cast out, he
and his seed, and are cast into the land which
    they know not?

42
  • O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of Jehovah.
Thus saith Jehovah, Write ye this man childless,
a man that shall not prosper in his days for no
more shall a man of his seed prosper, sitting
upon the throne of David, and ruling in Judah.

43
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • Jer. 2230 deals a death blow to the
    premillennial theories
  • Thus saith Jehovah, Write ye this man childless,
a man that shall not prosper in his days for no
more shall a man of his seed prosper, sitting
upon the throne of David, and ruling in Judah

44
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • Christ is a descendant of that lineage
  • (Matt. 111, 16) and Josiah begat Jechoniah and
his brethren, at the time of the carrying away to
Babylon and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of
Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called
    Christ.

45
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • Christ is now King of kings
  • I Tim. 313-16 I charge thee in the sight of
God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ
Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the
good confession that thou keep the commandment,
without spot, without reproach, until the
appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ

46
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • which in its own times he shall show, who is
the blessed and only Potentate, the King of
kings, and Lord of lords who only hath
    immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable
whom no man hath seen, nor can see to whom be
    honor and power eternal. Amen.

47
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • (John 141-3) Let not your heart be troubled
believe in God, believe also in me. In my
Father's house are many mansions if it were not
so, I would have told you for I go to prepare a
place for you. And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I come again, and will receive you unto
myself that where I am, there ye may be also.

48
Premillennialism and the Bible
  • By serving him now, we will be prepared for the
Judgment to come, for there will be no second
    chance Heb. 927
  • it is appointed unto men once to die, and after
    this cometh judgment

49
The Lords invitation is open
  • And now why do you wait? Arise, and be
baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the
name of the Lord (Acts 2216)

50
The final result of sin is not what you want. II
Thess. 17-9
  • and to you that are afflicted rest with us, at
the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with
the angels of his power in flaming fire, rendering
vengeance to them that know not God, and to them
that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus who
shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction
from the face of the Lord and from the glory of
    his might
