Biography

• William was born on July 23,1933. His birth place
  was Port Matilda, Pennsylvania. Williams
  occupation was being a mechanic and heavy
  equipment operator. Williams fathers and
  mothers names are Wilbert I. Lykens and Helen E.
  Lykens. Williams sisters name was Ruth Marie
  Long. His wifes name is Mildred Lykens . William
  has 8 kids their names are Calvin , Denise ,
  Jeff, Kim, Tina, William, Tracy, Stacy.

Major events in history

• In 1933 the Nazi party takes control of German
  government. World War ll begins 1940. The battle
  of Britain begins . President Roosevelt
  announces the destroyer Bases agreement in
  1941.Japan attacks Pearl Harbor and the United
  States enters world War ll 1941. More than 3
  million American men are drafted into military
  service. Japanese Americans are put into
  relocation camps. 1943 American workers built
  almost 86,000 aircraft . Allied forces take back
  North Africa 1944. General Eisenhower leads
  the D Day invasion in 1945.Germany surrenders.
  Fifteen million American women are employed in
  the labor force when World War ll ends. Harry
  Truman becomes president of the United States in
  1946. Employment Act of 1941 is passed. 1949
  Television sales reach nearly 100,000 per week.
  NATO is formed in 1950. The Korean War begins in
  1952. Dwight D. Eisenhoweris elected in 1953. the
  supreme court declares segregation of public
  schools illegal in 1957. The Soviet Union
  launches sputnik in 1962. In 1972 President Nixon
  resigned. In 1975 the Vietnam War. In 1991 the
  Cold War ends. In 1995 United States troops work
  for peace in Bosnia. In 2000 George W. Bush is
  elected president. In 2001Terrorists attacked
  sites in the United States.

Describe what it is like growing up?

• It was quite different from today seems like
  there was plenty to do not enough time to do
  them. We were always busy.

What was the busiest thing you did?

• Most of it was working on the farm.

Describe the recreation available to you growing
up?

• There was very little recreation than what you
  did on your own. There was baseball in the
  summer, ice skating ,sled riding in the winter
  after your chores were done.
