Sameena Qureshi
2Background
- April 2000 - Review of Cancer Registration in
England led by Professor Charles Gillis - 2001 - Action Programme for Cancer Registration
- a shift in data collection from cancer registries
to trusts
3Evolution of cancer registries
- Collation and quality assurance of data
- Analysis and research
- Dissemination of this information
4How will the shift take place?
Over the next 3-5 years responsibility for
collecting data for cancer registries will shift
to provider trusts. Where cancer registries
currently collect data manually, existing
arrangements should continue in the meantime.
5Current situation
- We currently collect data manually from most
trusts - We are working with networks / trusts to obtain
electronic cancer information from multiple
sources
