  • DEQ does not have the authority to direct the
    actions of a facility during an emergency.
  • DEQ has the responsibility to oversee the
    mitigation, cleanup and disposal activities
    subsequent to a spill emergency.

Resources and Training
  • The LDEQ-Emergency Response Section has 12 fully
    equipped Hazmat responders statewide, 3 in the
    Capital Regional Office
  • All LDEQ responders utilize basic monitoring air
    monitoring devices
  • 4-gas monitors ( CGI, O2, CO ppm and H2S ppm)
  • Chlorine and Ammonia monitors (ppm)
