  • There are two kinds of caterpillar legs
  • Prolegs The prolegs are stumpy legs that let
    the caterpillar climb very well, even up vertical
    surfaces. The last pair of prolegs are called
    anal prolegs they are at the very end of a
    caterpillars. These prolegs disappear in the
    adult.
  • Thoracic legs Caterpillars have three pairs of
    jointed legs with hooks these are attached to
    their thorax. Caterpillar's thoracic legs hold
    onto its food

which can detect the changes in light intensity.
