Installing JDeveloper

This document provides an outline of a
presentation and is incomplete without the
accompanying oral commentary and discussion.

Enhanced JInitiator Installation Process Overview

• The web install is time consuming and cumbersome
• The following process streamlines the install
  process but it is still not optimal
• Zip Archive located at http//patsi.upr.edu/insta
  ll_jinit.zip
• Contains
• JInitiator Installer (jinit13118.exe)
• Batch script for a silent install (install.bat)
• Answer file for the silent install (setup.css)
• Registry import to allow pop-ups
  (AllowUPRPopups.reg)
• Suitable to be extracted on a network share or
  CD-ROM

Download Zip

• http//patsi.upr.edu/install_jinit.zip
• Select the Save button and select a location to
  save it

Extract

• The ZIP archive must be extracted, the installer
  cannot be run directly.
• With Windows XP, built in zip
• Open install_jinit.zip in Windows Explorer
• Select Extract all Files

• Double click on install.bat
• Accept the Registry Import
• Wait for the install to finish (the Command
  prompt will close)

• 4) The system should now be configured, login to
  verify the install

• 5) Click on an Oracle Form function

• 6) Accept the Java Certificate
• (This window often opens behind the IE window
  and it appears that IE is frozen but instead it
  is just waiting for the user to accept or reject
  the certificate)
