- 1) Evaluate the feasibility of integrating
fish-consumption risk reduction assessment tools
and educational modules into a Comprehensive
Perinatal Services Program. - 2) Examine the risk of exposure to methylmercury
through consumption of sport fish, commercial
fish, and seafood. - 3) Determine access to reimbursement for testing
of mercury in whole blood via Medi-Cal and other
health insurance plans. - 4) Through chart review, evaluate the utility of
a follow-up protocol for monitoring the decrease
of mercury levels to the reference dose of lt 5.6
ug/L. - 5) Test the precision of an algorithm for
expected mercury levels by comparing the
calculation with laboratory analysis of blood
mercury. - 6) Assess laboratory variability in clinical
testing for mercury in whole blood by comparing
with standard methods employed by NHANES.
