Title: Travel Essay

1
Travel Essay
2
Mission
  • You will write a story, fiction or non-fiction,
about a trip that you took. (pretérito)
  • It must be at least 125 words.
  • More specifically, you will focus on the
preparation and the things that you
did/experienced prior to arriving at your
    destination.
  • You may also include some things
  • that you did while you were there.

3
Rules
  • You MAY NOT use an online translator or any
online sources. Also, you may not consult native
or heritage speakers. This will be considered
cheating and you will receive a zero if you
    choose to ignore my directions.
  • You can consult a text book, your notes/packets,
and any of the Spanish teachers at GMS/GHS. A
Spanish dictionary (non-electronic) may be used
    as well.
  • Try to stick to things/words you know. In
other words, try to avoid excessive use of the
    dictionary.

4
Rules
  • You must include the following items in your
    essay
  • 8 verbs ? abordar, ir, ser, salir or despegar,
esperar, hacer, buscar, llegar or aterrizar.
These must be in the preterite tense.
    underline
  • 10 vocab words (excluding verbs) from page 49 or
the additional vocab from my web site box
  • and
  • 5 clothing or accessory words from
    notes/PowerPoint. (circle)

5
Rules
  • Again, I will be looking at organization of your
essay. Be sure that the piece flows and happens
    in a logical sequence.
  • DO USE transition words to help with flow.
(examples first, then, next, after, before)
  • DO USE words associated with the preterite. See
notes! (ex. anteayer, ayer, en ese momento,
    etc.)
  • Be sure to pay attention to word order, adjective
    agreement, verb agreement, etc.

6
Helpful Hints
  • Remember the rules concerning antes de, después
de, and para. See your notes!
  • Watch for irregular preterite verbs and verbs
    with spelling changes (ex. car).
  • Bring books, notes, packets, dictionaries,
    paper, pencils, etc. to class.
