  armored, highly skilled, professional warrior,
  Goliath.
• David takes on the contest motivated by two
  reasons

• 1) to protect God and Israel from further insult
  by the Philistines
• 2) to profit personally through defeating this
  threat to Israels safety
• Ultimately, this story reveals allegorical

  a nation with a monopoly on iron and armaments
