  • 1 State your point of view, Affirm their good
    intentions and integrity, follow-up on any
    commitments.
  • 2 Be warm and personal, affirm friendship and
    positive feelings toward them, put loving limits
    on what you allow them to do for you
  • 3 Get the point quickly, value and affirm their
    achievements, present problems as challenges

  • 4 Be sensitive, tactful, and encouraging, let
    them know you understand how they feel, help the
    connect personally to the task
  • 5 Be prepared with objective facts, give them
    time to assimilate, dont cling or hover
  • 6 Let them know where you stand and what you
    expect, be clear on rules, give reassurance
    verbally and non-verbally

  • 7 Be positive and upbeat, be clear firm and
    consistent on what is okay, give them choices and
    help them see the options
  • 8 Talk straight, be direct and honest, even
    blunt, be independent, in conflict look them in
    the eye and stay firm
  • 9 Approach calmly, share your desire for harmony,
    dont pressure them, give your full attention and
    time for them to express themselves
