• The Fertile Crescent is a crescent shaped
  region, stretching from Southern Jerusalem along
  the Mediterranean coast to Syria and eastward
  through Iraq.

Climate

• The temperature for the region ranged from cool
  seasons to hot season with a temperature often
  over 110 Degrees Fahrenheit and moderate rainfall.

Ancient Fertile Crescent

• After 3100 B.C. the Sumerian civilization
  occupied the northern Mesopotamia in the middle
  of the Fertile Crescent. The Sumerians period
  lasted until about 2000 B.C.

Modern Day Fertile Crescent

• The Fertile Crescent is now located in Iraq. The
  Iraqis now live there.

Modern Day Agriculture

• Oil is the main product in Iraq (Fertile
  Crescent). Vegetables and cereals are the most
  important crops, but international sanctions have
  damaged the trade in recent years.

New Civilizations Move In

• After the Sumerians, the Persians, Greeks, and
  Arabs conquered the land. Mongol and Turkish
  tribes brought a decline in population and
  cultural life. After the Ottoman Turks were
  defeated in World War I Britain receive a League
  of Nations over the Iraqi people and Iraq.
