SSULG v SNNILG
  • Scottish Non Nuclear Industries Liaison Group,
    formerly called the Scottish Small User Liaison
    Group.
  • The group consists of representatives from
  • SEPA SSERC UKOOA
  • AURPO IPEM HSE
  • PIRSDG SRP SRPA
  • SE NRPB

The aims of the SNNILG is to
  • provide a forum for discussing issues related to
    the regulation of use and disposal of radioactive
    substances by non nuclear users in Scotland.
  • provide a forum for professional associations,
    trade associations and other relevant
    organisations representing small or non nuclear
    users in Scotland to formally present concerns to
    SEPA about regulation of radioactive substances.
  • liaise with the governments Non-nuclear Users of
    Radioactive Substances Liaison Committee and the
    Environment Agency Small Users Liaison Group .

How do we do it?
  • Discussion.
  • Highlighting issues specific to our areas and
    finding common solutions (where possible).
  • Discussion.
  • Get involved in consultation (reply together).
  • Discussion.
  • Raise our concerns to government via the SE
    members of the group.

Whats in the pot at the moment
  • University source disposals are being discussed.
  • Exemption orders are high on the agenda.
  • Questionnaire regarding the disposal of low level
    radioactive waste in Scotland, this will be
    collated and presented to the Scottish Waste
    Liaison Council (SWLC).
  • Qualified Experts.

    sources for disposal (many of which were
    recycled).
  • Database of disposal pathways on the SEPA
    webpage.
  • Charging scheme consultation consensus on key
    points.
  • Single site licence for Universities.

  • As a candidate about to embark on the RPA 2000
    path what are the benefits of being a member of
    SNNILG?
  • Network in place.
  • Increasing my knowledge of legislation and
    probably more importantly how to get involved
    with changes (consultations)
  • Wealth of knowledge around the table to tap in
    to.
  • Lots of portofolio evidence produced.
