ATTENDANCE POLICY
  • A student may be dropped from a course in which
    the number of his/her absences exceeds 20 of the
    total number of course meetings in the quarter.
  • Absences and tardiness will become a part of the
    student's record through the work ethics grade.
  • It is the student's responsibility to make
    arrangements with the instructor concerning the
    completion of work missed. All make-up work will
    be at the discretion of the instructor.

  • School Closings
  • Will be announced by area radio and TV stations.
  • Phone Calls
  • Students may use the phones in designated areas
    for personal calls.
  • Students will not be reached for phone messages
    unless it is an emergency.

West Georgia Tech CODE OF CONDUCT
  • Any student who represents a clear and present
    danger to others and/or is disruptive to the
    learning process must be immediately removed from
    the campus and be subject to disciplinary
    procedures with the possible result of
    suspension.

West Georgia TechEMERGENCY PROCEDURES
  • During emergencies, all individuals should
    proceed to their designated assembly areas and
    remain there until the all-clear signal is given.
    Under no circumstances are students to go to
    their automobiles or attempt to remove them from
    the parking lot.All traffic lanes must be clear
    for emergency vehicles.

DRUGS AND NARCOTICS. . .
  • The use, possession, or distribution of
    narcotics, amphetamines, barbiturates, marijuana,
    hallucinogens, and any other dangerous or
    controlled drug not prescribed by a physician is
    prohibited on the technical college's property or
    at institutional-sponsored events.

WEAPONS POLICY
  • It is unlawful for any person to carry or to
    possess or to have under their control any
    firearm, explosive material, or other dangerous
    weapon within a school safety zone or at a school
    building, school function, or on school property
    or on transportation furnished by the school.

TOBACCO POLICY
WGTC restricts all use of TOBACCO to Designated
Areas only. Smoking is prohibited within 25 ft
of any building to ensure that tobacco smoke
does not enter areas through entrances, windows,
ventilation systems, or other means.

PARKING
  • WGTC does NOT require a West Georgia Tech parking
    permit for students.
  • Please do NOT park in reserved spaces or handicap
    spaces.
  • Students who utilize handicap spaces must have a
    handicap license plate.

SECURITY
  • Consideration is given to security in the
    maintenance of campus facilities. The physical
    facilities are regularly inspected and maintained
    to provide a safe campus. Areas are well-lighted
    and routinely checked and maintained. We have
    security patrols on campus.

  • Security officers carry a Blackberry unit in case
    you have an emergency.
  • We ask that you contact them in the case of an
    emergency only, please do not use this device for
    assistance with flat tires, dead batteries, etc.
    The Blackberry will have two means of
    communication text email and phone.

TECHNOLOGY FACILITY FEES

35.00
All credit students must pay a 35.00 technology
each quarter. NEW Fall term all students must
pay a 10.00 Facility Fee each quarter.  Students
who receive the HOPE Grant or Scholarship Pell
Grant and/or have 3rd Party credit may have their
Technology Fee (35) and Facility Fee (10)
deducted from their quarterly award.

PAYMENT DEADLINE
  • Access BANNER Web and check the box to authorize
    HOPE or Pell to be used for this purpose.
  • If you are not eligible for Financial Aid, and
    have NOT paid all fees/tuition by the payment
    deadline, policy provides that all course
    registration related to past due fees/tuition be
    deleted from the BANNER system.

DELETION of CLASSES
for non-payment
  • Students who have not made payment for all
    assessed fees are encouraged authorize these fees
    to be taken out of state and/or federal student
    aid or obtain a Third Party agreement (access
    electronic authorization by logging into Banner
    Web student account). After all payment options
    have been exhausted, students with unpaid fees
    after the payment deadline must be dropped from
    all class rosters.

  • FAFSA Free Application for Federal Student Aid
  • Students who wish to become eligible for
    financial aid must submit an application each
    academic year.

  • Students must renew their FAFSA for each year -
    deadline is mid-April

  • Students taking fewer than 6 credit hours will
    receive 50 allowance

    receive 100 allowance
  • HOPE book allowance will NOT be available until

  • Bookstore hours are scheduled to accommodate day
    and evening students. Hours are announced at the
    beginning of each quarter. Books are available
    for sale along with a variety of supplies.
  • Cash, personal checks, and credit cards are
    accepted in the bookstore.

FEE REFUND POLICY
  • Students will receive a 100 refund of applicable
    tuition and refundable fees for courses dropped
    by the end of the third instructional day of any
    quarter.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY
  • College Withdrawal
  • A student who officially withdraws from a course
    by the midpoint of the quarter will receive a
    grade of W.
  • After the midpoint of the quarter, a student
    wishing to withdraw will receive a WF, which is
    calculated in the students quarterly Grade Point
    Average (GPA) as zero quality points.
  • A grade of WP (withdrawn passing) is only
    recorded with extenuating circumstances.
