Who Can Apply?
  • Normally only the Governing Bodies of Sport in
    Northern Ireland
  • The Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games Council
  • The Applicant Organisation must be SCNI recognised

The Applicant Organisation
  • Must have in place
  • a data retrieval system - annual updates
  • a constitution
  • an anti doping policy
  • annual accounts approved by membership
  • a child protection policy
  • an equity statement

The Application
  • Must Contain a detailed written performance plan
  • Can be for an athlete/team/squad but can only be
    for people who are
  • Born in Northern Ireland
  • Born of a parent who was born in N Ireland
  • Eligible to compete for N Ireland in the targeted
    competition

How much funding is available?
  • Elite category
  • Seniors, Juniors or exceptional athletes
  • 12K per annum
  • Living Costs
  • Medical Cover
  • SINI Services
  • Senior Squads and Teams
  • 25K per annum (maximum 5K per person)

  • Costs of preparing the application

  • Some of the Targeted competition costs
  • Unreasonable costs

UBTI Criteria
  • The applicant must fulfil all aspects of the SLF
    eligibility and performance criteria.
  • Athletes who wish to be considered will make
    preliminary application to UBTI Selector and /or
    Performance Director providing detail on the
    purpose of the funding request and intended
    Performance Manager.
  • The Ulster Selector/Performance Director will
    present the request to UBTI Committee, which will
    consider all applications on the basis of
    accredited performance of the athlete.

UBTI Criteria
  • The Performance Manager will be a member of
    Triathlon Ireland through the Ulster Branch and
    will be subject to approval by Ulster Branch. At
    all times the Performance manager will be
    responsible to Ulster Branch for the discharge of
    his/her responsibilities in accordance with the
    SLF contract.
  • The applicant must have been a full member in
    good standing of Triathlon Ireland, through the
    Ulster Branch, for a period of 2 consecutive
    years prior to the date of Application.
  • The applicant must have been born in N. Ireland,
    or within the preceding 3 years have been
    resident in N. Ireland for a period of 2 years.

UBTI Criteria
  • Only Elite/Senior competition performances will
    be eligible for consideration. These
    performances must have been in Triathlon (1.5k,
    40k, 10k) distance races and in Duathlon (10k,
    40k, 5k) distance races. Consideration will also
    be given to exceptional performances at Elite
    standard in greater distance events.
  • An applicant for Talented Athlete Programme will
    be ranked within the top 5 Triathletes/Duathletes
    in Ireland, based on proven performances and
    verified by the UB Selector and TI Head of
    Selectors.

  • An applicant for Talented Athlete Next Generation
    Programme will be ranked within the top 3 at
    Junior and/or under 23 level on performance at
    distances mentioned in 7 above
  • The applicant will have attained International
    Representative status and have displayed
    potential for substantial achievement at Elite
    International level.
  • Performance Targets
  • UBTI will administer all payments to
    Triathletes/Duathletes through a Bank account
    that is dedicated only to processing SLF Awards.
  • Individuals in receipt of TAP funding will
    maintain a dedicated Current Account and will
    produce a bank statement or any other information
    upon request, to Ulster Branch Officials.

  • As the representative of the National Governing
    Body, Ulster Branch Triathlon Ireland, through
    the appointed Performance Director and other
    Officers, will at all times hold award recipients
    and performance managers to account for the
    proper and efficient discharge of their
    responsibilities.
  • Failure, of any Performance Manager or Athlete,
    to comply with any requirement of SLF or UBTI may
    result in withholding or withdrawal of funding
    subject to decision by UBTI committee or
    direction from SLF.
  • Athletes will at all times comply with the rules
    of International and National Governing Body
    including International Olympic Committee Anti
    Doping regulations.
  • Athletes in receipt of Lottery Funding are
    required to reimburse any and all monies paid by
    UBITA as a result of any recovery action being
    undertaken by the SLF.
