What is a Blog?

• Blog is short for Web Log.
• Think of it as a journal of fact based opinions.
• You write about an issue or question, or reflect
  on an event.
• People can read your posted writing and comment
  on it.

• Conduct yourself in a manner reflective of a
  representative of this school.
• Treat your blog as a classroom space. It is not a
  place for personal and private issues that are
  not related to school topics.
• Strive to write respectfully and do not be rude.
  Blogs are about ideas but agree or disagree with
  idea, not the person.

• Make specific suggestions and back up your
  opinions with facts.
• If you should come across anything online that
  makes you feel uncomfortable or afraid report it
  immediately.
• Do ask for permission to use any files that were
  created and owned by others, including photos.

• Do not post or give out your family name,
  password, home address, phone number, or any
  personal information that would give information
  that would help someone directly locate you or
  contact you in person. Use these same guidelines
  when referring to class members.

  family, teachers, or friends to read.
• Use correct English and be aware that everything
  you post is a reflection of you.
• Dont always believe everything you read online.
  You need to make a judgment about whether it can

• Sometimes plays go right, sometimes they go wrong
• Keep your head in the game, not on the rankings
• Character flaws off the field can affect your
  game
• Performance on the field can affect your life off
  the field.

  day, but respect the opinion of seasoned coaches.
• Dont use the fact that you are human as an
  excuse to not push towards perfection.
• Perfection is an illusion

• Quickly give feedback to students
• Use it for literature circle activities
• Get responses to a question with different
  answers each time

• Students give feedback to each other
• Track student writing development
• Students use their peer network to develop their
  own knowledge
• Update new information on homework assignments
• Encourages students to help each other with their
  writing
• AS a classroom discussion and debate area

• If you mention it, hyperlink it.
• Get a good title
• Write and then cut in half
• Write and then format.
• Draw a picture
• Before you bag it, tag it.
• After you post it, ping it.
• Make sure you set your pages to archive.
• Comment on articles you quote and hyperlink to
  your article.
• Get the stats back.

• If you want to blog, you should read other blogs.
  You need to do this for several reasons.
• Stay current with other blogs which are about
  your industry or market.
• Learn about blogging from blogs, such as this
  one, which address the subject.
• Learn about subjects youre interested in, such
  as marketing, PR, accounting, and so on.
