Title: Dysfunctional Genetics: Cancer causing anomalies in Humans
1Dysfunctional GeneticsCancer causing anomalies

2Points
- What is cancer?
- Three different origins of cancer
- Current research
- About these origins
- Future research
3- Cancer does not abide by
- density dependent inhibition
- Tumors form when cells divide
- with out stopping
- Cancer can be either
- benign or malignant
- Cancer doesnt follow anchorage
- dependence, this allows
- metastasis to occur
4Genetic Origin
Scientist have found that due to damaged DNA,
cancer can be formed Damaged DNA by passes the
G1 check point then goes into mitotic
division Once damaged DNA passes the first
check point the cell divides with the damaged
DNA being Duplicated After duplication the cell
may or may not follow density dependent
inhibition
5DNA is made up of chromosomes, it is damaged
due to deletion, duplication and/or
inversion Proteins are made by amino acid
chains, these chains are altered and the wrong
protein is produced
6With the damaged DNA in the cell, the p53 gene
is either inhibited or destroyed With out this
gene the cell goes past Density-dependent
inhibition and a tumor forms
7Sex-linked theory
Cancer is said to be linked to the X
chromosome Similar to hemophilia
8Physical pressure
- carcinogens give rise to tumors
- Two type, 1st gene involved in controlling cell
proliferation - and migration and 2nd an agent which selectivley
enhances growth - Tobacco Products
- Diet
9Tobacco products
- With the build up of tobacco chemicals in the
cells the carcinogens mutate the cell
confirmations allowing non-density dependent
inhibition to occur - Tobacco contains many chemicals including many
known carcinogens
10Diet
- A poor diet is known to cause cancer
- With not enough essential nutrients especially
vitamin D, gene suppressors do not work properly
if any - Excessive salt
11Future Research
- The Ames Test was used to detect if some
chemicals are carcinogens and if they are able to
mutate cells - Mutagens increase the possibility of tumor and
cancer formation
12- Protein synthesis occurs from the data
- translated from the DNA to mRNA
- which translates into polypeptide
- chains which become proteins and amino
- acid chains
