2Making a Webpage can be quite a mystery for some.
There are so many programs to use and learn. It
can be overwhelming.
I will show you how to make a webpage with a
program most are familiar with - Microsoft Word.
You will learn to add backgrounds, title, text,
link to areas in your document, and link to
email.
3Create a blank document in Microsoft Word by
either opening Word or Clicking on File, New,
Blank Document (Control N)
Step 1
4Choose a background
Click on Format Scroll down to Background and
choose from the menu. (Try Fill Effects!)
5Add A Title
- Click on the WordArt icon on the bottom toolbar
and type in your title
- Title can also be added by typing and centering
6Add Your Text
Its EASY! Type just as you would in a Word
document!
- Text can be added by simply typing

7Adding a graphic
Graphics can be added from the clip art gallery
or from a file in your computer!
- Step 1
- Click on Insert on the toolbar
- Choose either Clip Art or From File. In this case
we are using Clip Art

- Search and Select a graphic
- Click once on the graphic
- A rectangle will appear the first icon will
insert the graphic
- Click on the top icon to insert graphic

- In order to move your graphic around the page,
right click on the graphic
- Scroll down to format picture

- Format Picture box will appear
- Click behind text so your graphic will remain
behind what you type
- You can now move your graphic around the page by
clicking and dragging with your mouse
11Stop and Save!!
- You need to save and save often!
- Go to File, scroll down to Save As
- When the box appears, name your document and
choose WEB PAGE as your Save As Type
12Adding a table
- Add tables as you would normally in a Word
Document
- Click Table on the tool bar and scroll down to
Insert and Table
- OR Click the button on the toolbar for Tables
13Moving and Linking Within Your Document
- When creating a webpage, you can create a home
page and then link to additional pages.
- You can also link to areas within your document
using BOOKMARKS and HYPERLINKS
- This presentation will show you how to make one
page and link to different areas by clicking on
the headings in your table.
14Setting bookmarks within your document
- Highlight your heading with your mouse.
2. Click Insert on the toolbar and scroll down
to Bookmark.

- The Bookmark box will popup.
- Give your bookmark a name. It has to be one name
no spaces
- If you use initials, make sure they are clear (GS
for Great Sites)

1. Highlight Great Sites in your table with
your mouse
3. Click on Bookmark or Place in this document

- Under Bookmarks, find the bookmark you want to
link to (GreatSites)
- Click with your mouse to highlight
REMEMBER TO SAVE! CLICK THE DISK ON THE TOOLBAR!
18Linking within your document
You may want to include a Back to Top button at
the end of each segment. This helps your viewer
navigate though your webpage smoothly. To do
this, you use the same principle of Bookmarks and
Hyperlinks, but do it in reverse.

1. Highlight your entire table with your mouse
2. Click on Insert and scroll to Bookmark as you
did before
3. Name your bookmark TOP and click ADD

- Insert a button or type Back to Top at the end
of each segment
- Highlight button or text with your mouse
- Click on the Hyperlink button on the toolbar
- Under Bookmarks, click on top and click OK.
This will set your bookmark
21Linking To An EMail Address
1. Highlight Email Me in your table
2. Click on the Hyperlink button
3. Click on E-mail Address
22CONGRATULATIONS! Mystery Solved!
Youve now created a webpage in Microsoft
Word! This page can now be loaded onto a server
using a FTP program such as WINFTP or CUTEFTP.
But thats another mystery..
