• Elders - lead the congregation
• Deacons - serve at the elder's bidding
  servants, ministers and waiters

• The elder and his character
• Temperate - "vigilant, alert watchful"
• Sober-minded - "sound mind, safe mind"
• Just - "upright, righteous (fair)"
• Holy - "religiously right, consecrated"
• Self controlled - "strong in a thing"
• Good behavior - "respectable, orderly"
• Gentle - "patient, mild"

• Not self-willed - "not overbearing"
• Lover of what is good - "affection for goodness,
  promotes goodness"
• Not a novice - "not newly planted, (young
  convert)"
• Desires - "to stretch oneself, reach after"
• Apt to teach - "instructive, skilled in
  teaching"
