4Loading Resources from the Applications 2001 CD
- Open the Chevrolet - Designer PC Files folder
- Copy all of the files in the Data, Forms, and
Images folders on the CD into the appropriate
folders in the Proform Designer directory on the
PCs hard drive - Default is C\Program Files\Proform Designer
5Loading True Type Fonts From the Applications
2001 CD
- Open the Control Panel
- Double click on Fonts
- Click on Install New Font located on the File
Menu - Navigate to the Applications 2001 CD
- Open Chevrolet - Design PC Files\TrueType fonts
- Select Fonts Click OK
6Setting the Resource Set
- Open the Resource Set window from the Edit menu
- Select the printer type
- Choose Printer
- The default printer fonts will be determined by
the Windows print driver - Paper Support should specify the largest size the
printer is capable of using - Not necessarily the size for this form
7Setting the File Location
- On the Locations tab of the Resource Set window,
set the location that your forms and VIPP files
will be saved in
8Opening the Form File
- Open the chevy1.fsl through the File menu or by
clicking on the Open Existing Form button
9Missing Resources
- When opening a pre-existing form for the first
time the Assign Missing Resources box will appear - Even though all of the necessary files have been
copied into the appropriate directories, some
resources may show up as missing because the
environment has not yet been initialized - Import the missing resource by clicking on the
ellipses
10Missing Resources
- Navigate to the appropriate directory, highlight
the appropriate file and click the Open button - The Assign Missing Resources box will now show
that the file has now been imported - Once all missing resources have been imported,
click on the OK button to open the form

12Creating a new Form
- Click on New located on the File Menu or by using
the New Form button - Specify Form Name, Paper Size, etc in the Form
Layout window
13Importing a Background
- Backgrounds can be imported through the File menu

- When using pre-printed stock, importing the
background will allow you to see exactly where
the data should be placed on the form

- Access the background through the Edit menu
- Click on the form and the background will be
selected - Right click on the form and you can format the
image

- You will now be able to view information about
the background and adjust the size and position - You will NOT be able to edit any colors, text or
images in the background - To delete the background, press the Delete key
while the background is selected

- Data may be imported through the File menu or by
clicking on the Data Import Icon from the
Standard toolbar

- Select the data file that will be imported to the
form
19Data Import Wizard
- The Data Import Wizard selects the type of data
from Delimited or Line Data - The Data preview window allows the data to be
viewed - This is helpful in insuring the correct
selection

- Field Delimiter
- Text Qualifier
- Maximum Record Length
- The Summary Window lets you review the parameters
- Press the Back button to make changes

- The field names for the imported data will now be
viewable in the Data Drop Down Menu

- Data strings can be dropped onto the form by
using the drop-down menu on the Data toolbar - Select the desired field, then move the mouse to
the desired position on the form

- The plus-sign cursor will signify the placement
of the upper left corner of the first data

- Font changes to data can be made just as with
regular text by using the typeface drop-down menu
or by the font window in the format menu
25Adding Data to Text Editor
- Data strings can be added to Text Boxes by
choosing the field name in the Data Drop-down
menu while in the Text Editor
26Formatting Data and Text
- Data is formatted similar to text
- Just select the text or data box and choose the
alignment preferred
27Conditional Logic
- Conditional logic can be applied to the data file
to generate text - Click on the Conditional Text button
- Draw a text box where you want to place the data
and you automatically be taken to the Conditions
tab in the Data Properties box - Click Add

- Once you have clicked the add button, you will be
walked through the process of building IF
statements
29Conditional Images
- Like text, images can also be called in
conditionally - Click on the Conditional Images button
- Follow the same process as creating conditional
text
30Saving the Form
- To Save the Form select the Save icon or Save As
in the File menu
31Forms Directory
- The .fsl is automatically stored in the forms
folder specified in your Resource Set
32Creating a Job
- Once both sides of the form have been created
and saved, create a job - Close any open forms
- Go to the File Menu and click on New Job
33Creating a Job
- Name the Job
- Click the ellipses to browse out to the data file
- Choose Duplex for the page format
- Next, Add the forms and background
34Saving to VIPP
- Once the forms and backgrounds have been added,
you can save to VIPP - Click the Save VIPP button
- Click OK to close the job
35VIPP files
- By just choosing to Save VIPP in the job, the
appropriate files are saved in the VIPP
directory (xgfc)defined in your Resource Set
Images being used as backgrounds (the .eps
files in this application) will have to manually
be copied into the correct XGFC directory.

- The .frm, the .dbm (if delimited data is used),
and the background files are stored in the
formlib folder of the xgfc directory

- The data file and fonts are saved in the mislib
folder of the xgfc directory

- Image files are saved in the imglib of the xgfc
directory

- DeskTop Designer places the .jdt into the
jdtlib of the xgfc directory
