2Description
Prep Chemistry is a standards-based course
designed for the college-bound students
It is a fairly rigorous course requiring
prerequisite skills in math and science
Some amount of self-study is required
Homework (assigned and self-study) 2-3 hours/week
Labs (approx. 1 per week) require safety
precautions and self-discipline
3Grade Determination
Grades are determined from total points earned
divided by total points possible.
Approximately
60 exams
10 labs
10 homework
10 classwork
10 Notebook (notes, assignments, etc)
4Description
I do not routinely do bookwork in class typical
period is lecture, problem-solving (worksheet),
and demonstration of chemical/science reactions
or events
Students must, as homework, read covered chapters
in their textbook
Chemistry is a subject that, once a student is
behind, it is difficult to catch up.
Tutoring student needs to see me to schedule a
time after school. Campus tutoring is also
available
5Website
Current grades, class schedule, tutorials,
worksheets, etc, are on my website http//drschre

I very much prefer email for correspondence. If
you call, please do so before school (7-8am), or
after school (3-5pm)
6Demonstrations
Classroom chemistry demonstrations clarify
difficult concepts, illustrate chemistry
principles, and promote excitement and motivation
in chemistry and science.
I take thorough safety precautions in all
demonstrations. Students actively participate
only if it is SAFE.
