Hydraulic fracturing, referred to as fracking, is a stimulation technique used to extract oil and gas from shale rocks. Large volumes of water mixed with sand and chemical additives, also called hydraulic fluid, are pumped down the wellbore into the reservoir formations at high pressures. This results in small fractures, allowing the oil and gas trapped in the rock to flow back to the surface. The hydraulic fluid pumped into the wellbore consists of small quantities of chemical additives (0.8%) and large quantities of water and sand (99.2%). Hydraulic fracturing service cost varies from well to well, depending on the number of frac stages and the depth of wells.
Oil and Gas Packers are made of a rubber-like material, cylindrical in shape, which can be compressed to expand against the well walls. The Oil and Gas Packers seal the well walls, thereby preventing any vertical flow of fluid in that section of the well.Well packer is an instrument that runs into the wellbore at a smaller initial diameter. The diameter is later expanded to seal the wellbore and the packer is needed for the well execution. After the well execution is done, isolation takes place where annulus from the production conduit is removed. The packer, as a downhole instrument, is important for the basic functioning of most wells, producers, or injectors. Packer offers several advantages such as prevention of the production casing from corrosion from produced fluids along with safeguarding from high pressures and helps in separating multiple producing zones.
The rigid centralizer oriented by an orienting ring is availed with an offset aperture and a pump-down ball. This ring is set in the bottom of the casing in a way where the planes of the opening and the centralizer blades coincide downwards. This type of casing centralizer secures around the casing at various locations to keep the casing from contacting the wellbore walls. You should find out more about this device in the Presentation.
