If a translator is unfamiliar with the language, he or she is almost guaranteed to make an error. A successful translation begins with language fluency; nevertheless, speaking a language fluently does not make a translator complete and effective, as his actual comprehension is assessed during the translation process. A translator must have a fundamental familiarity with all languages because they all have words that are distinctive to their civilizations.
